Friday 4th October saw the official launch of Team Run 12. The team invited friends and family to the Burlesque Suite in Mu Mu Bar, Maidstone to celebrate the beginning of their marathon and fundraising journey for Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK.
From 8pm, guests filled the room and danced, drank and partied right through until 2am. To say the event was a success would be a huge understatement; this is reflected in the significant amount of money raised towards the team's £25,000 fundraising target…. £1143.92!
The team are extremely grateful to everyone who has shown support for our cause so far. Having all been together for the first time on Friday, Team Run 12 were slightly overwhelmed to see a room of people in awe at the challenge they are taking on.
Becky, running all 12 marathons said, “It’s started to sink in that we have a lot of hard work to do but having finally been united with the team tonight, I couldn’t imagine a better group of people to share this experience with. We’ve had lots of champagne tonight to celebrate and I’m positive there will be at least 12 more celebrations in 2014!”

MuMu Bar Maidstone donated the stunning Burlesque Suite for the evening and a prize for the team’s raffle! The bar is known for its superb cocktails and buzzing atmosphere; given the packed dance floor, this certainly rang true on Friday!
Lolas Cupcakes provided the team with 120 stunning pink, purple and ‘black’ cupcakes (the iconic Team Run 12 colours) which guests tucked in to!
DJ Jon Glover, one of Mu Mu’s residential DJs kept the crowd dancing until the early hours of the morning! Guests were also wowed by the magnificent Sam Beedle, Sam was the special guest for the evening, entertaining guests with a range of incredible magic tricks!
Our raffle prizes donors; the raffle contributed over £300 of the total raised on the night. The team were actually left with empty raffle ticket books due to your overwhelming support for the range of prizes on offer.
With special thanks to ineedpampering.com for their paintballing tickets, Marc @ Reynolds Spa for providing a spa voucher, the team at Shamrat (Maidstone) for a £50 dinner voucher for their indian restaurant or takeaway, Wicksteed Park and Goodnestone Park for visitors passes, the team at Ren Skincare for a beautiful box set, City Cruises for providing a Red Rover River Tour for two people and Nandos for everyone’s much loved chicken cheques! (Winning ticket numbers were – Blue 612, 773, 854, 692, 904, 727. Pink/Orange 222, 379, 284, 435.)
A special mention to the team at VR Print for producing a range of posters, flyers and tickets for us.
Finally, a huge thank you to our incredible friends and family for giving us a night to remember! It was amazing for us to be together as a team for the first time but even more amazing to have you all with us and see how proud you are of what we’re trying to do – this will always be about the charities for us.
