Charity Christmas Fete

17/12/2013

A massive thank you to everyone involved in our charity Christmas fete which took place on December 7th at Coxheath Village Hall, Maidstone.

On the day, families gathered to visit Santa and his elves, enjoy the home-baked treats from our cafe, play some classic fete games and visit a selection of shopping stalls. The day raised a fantastic £500!
With special thanks to our volunteers, stall holders and their families, Santa and his elves and everyone who visited and helped us make the day special! You can see what we got up to in our behind-the-scenes montage video above!

From all of Team Run 12 have a very Merry Christmas!

Announcement - 12 - 12 -13

Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances mean that I am no longer able to travel to Gran Canaria to run the marathon on January 26th. For weeks the team have been looking for a suitable race that would fit with my training plan, but have sadly been unsuccessful.

As many of you know, I am not an experienced runner (nor that great at it!) I have been running for less than a year and have been plagued by injuries so running an earlier race or running a race closer to my second marathon is just not an option.

As such, I have taken it upon myself and my wonderful team (I love you guys!) to organise our very own Team Run 12 Marathon. For a second there, I had you thinking I was already quitting didn’t I?? NEVER.

On Saturday 25th January 2014 I will be running 17 laps of the Gravesend Cyclopark to complete a full 26.2 mile marathon.

The Cyclopark staff have been fantastic and offered us access to their biggest track. Running 17 laps of this is going to be more mentally exhausting than it will be physically. So I’m looking for your help. The first lap will be completed with Team Run 12, the final lap will be completed alone. In between, I’m looking for recruits to run one lap with me. For just £15 you will be welcomed on to the track to complete the short distance (it’s less than 1.5 miles so you have no excuses!). If you’re interested in running please click here.

Only one person will be able to run with me at any given time, so be quick to submit your applications! 100% of your entry fee will go to our charities, Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK. It does not matter how slow you want to go (the slower the better, particularly by mile 18!), what size you are or how old you are, I NEED you to join me!

If you’re really not up for running, please still come along. Spectating is free, a live DJ will be playing all day and there will be plenty of other activities available to keep you busy whilst I (quite literally) run circles around you!

This is a very exciting development for Team Run 12. Not only does it mean that we, as a team, can all be part of the first marathon, it means that I can have my friends and family joining me and cheering me on throughout. Any marathon runner will tell you how frustrating and demotivating it can be to miss your loved ones in a busy crowd as you run past!

Time is catching up on me now, we’ve got just 6 weeks to go… But, I genuinely cannot wait to see you at the finish line x

November Update

Welcome to the November update from Team Run 12, as I expect we will be for the next 15 months, we've been BUSY! From training to unfortunate trips on to a treatment bed, new medals, races and meeting lots of new faces - we seem to have been everywhere in November and now having achieved more than 10% of our fundraising goal, there is no stopping us!

We are dedicating a year of our lives to our two charities; not only running for them but raising awareness of the vital work they do - we are overwhelmed by the support we have so far seen and this is reflected in the phenomenal £3000+ that's been donated so far! On behalf of our charities, and the entire team, thank you very much for being part of our journey!

A Future Fundraiser in the Making...
A very special mention has to go to our 'Fundraiser of the Month' Riley Dowle!

Riley raised a huge £358 by completing a 500m (20 lengths) swim on Sunday 24th November! Riley completed the swim in under 25 minutes with an average length time of just 40 seconds!

Riley said 'I did TWENTY lengths today and it was easy. I think next time I might do 1000m.' Well done Riley, you are a superstar!

A huge thank you to Christine for organising the swim for Riley and Virgin Active for allowing us to use their facilities.
Buy A Mile!
Buy a Mile is our latest fundraising initiative, so far contributing £500 to our goal. For every £10 donation you make, you can select one of the 312 miles Becky will run in 2014. You will then have the freedom to print a message, alongside your mile, on the sleeve of Becky's T-shirt for your selected race!

Whether you want to dedicate the mile to a loved one, write something motivating or just pick your birthday, for just £10 you can be part of the journey!

Congratulations Shelley - we can't keep up!

Tombola Treats at Ladies Pamper Event!
Another thank you goes to Carla at Indigo Pamper for allowing us to attend another of her fantastic ladies pamper events, raising £89 in just a few hours!

Team member Paris attended the event armed with delicious pick 'n' mix sweet bags and a range of fantastic tombola prizes. "Everyone wanted the bottle of moet," said Paris, "it was fantastic to have so many people involved for such a worthy cause."
