As many of you know, I am not an experienced runner (nor that great at it!) I have been running for less than a year and have been plagued by injuries so running an earlier race or running a race closer to my second marathon is just not an option.
As such, I have taken it upon myself and my wonderful team (I love you guys!) to organise our very own Team Run 12 Marathon. For a second there, I had you thinking I was already quitting didn’t I?? NEVER.
On Saturday 25th January 2014 I will be running 17 laps of the Gravesend Cyclopark to complete a full 26.2 mile marathon.
The Cyclopark staff have been fantastic and offered us access to their biggest track. Running 17 laps of this is going to be more mentally exhausting than it will be physically. So I’m looking for your help. The first lap will be completed with Team Run 12, the final lap will be completed alone. In between, I’m looking for recruits to run one lap with me. For just £15 you will be welcomed on to the track to complete the short distance (it’s less than 1.5 miles so you have no excuses!). If you’re interested in running please click here.
Only one person will be able to run with me at any given time, so be quick to submit your applications! 100% of your entry fee will go to our charities, Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK. It does not matter how slow you want to go (the slower the better, particularly by mile 18!), what size you are or how old you are, I NEED you to join me!
If you’re really not up for running, please still come along. Spectating is free, a live DJ will be playing all day and there will be plenty of other activities available to keep you busy whilst I (quite literally) run circles around you!
This is a very exciting development for Team Run 12. Not only does it mean that we, as a team, can all be part of the first marathon, it means that I can have my friends and family joining me and cheering me on throughout. Any marathon runner will tell you how frustrating and demotivating it can be to miss your loved ones in a busy crowd as you run past!
Time is catching up on me now, we’ve got just 6 weeks to go… But, I genuinely cannot wait to see you at the finish line x
